Bravo Petunia! Congrats TP Keane : A Review of Dear Bob The Misadventures of Petunia Porterfield

Cries High-Fives & Little White Lies

Dear Bob The Misadventures of Petunia Porterfield is the sophomore book for Author TP Keane who's first hit the literary world with her first book The Paladins of Naretia an epic young adult book about fantasy and science fiction. Author TP Keane is originally from Galway, Ireland.  She is one of seven children. She states there wasn’t a dull moment in her early life. TP Keane has written the perfect good-natured read that will have kids rooting for the underdog or should I say the under-fairy.
Dear Bob is a children’s first chapter book. This is the book I would have loved when I was a little girl. (to be honest, I like it a lot now) Bob is the name of her closest friend, her diary that her mother gave her for her birthday. I too like Petunia had a diary. Reading this story took me back to a time when I would write to my diary like the book could hear my words.Tracing across the pages holding all my secrets and dreams. That was the beginning of my love affair with diary’s, journals and notebooks. To this day journals are my weakness along with pens.

Petunia takes Bob everywhere she goes and tells him all about her good days. Her bad days and her really really horrible days.  All of her highs and lows. He gives her the listening ear of a best friend. He lets her express herself. He helps her to become the fairy she is meant to be. The story is one of a curious, clumsy little fair who doesn’t quite fit in the world around her. Though she longs to be normal. As normal as a fairy can be in Furrow Grove. She compares herself to her family and others in her school. She constantly questions her existence and where she fits in. Then one day something happens in her hometown. She has to gather up all her courage and figure out what is wrong and how she can help.  The book is any easy read. I can see young girls enjoying this book. Definitely anyone who enjoys fairies , magic lands. and mischief. It’s a great book for a read long.  Its a great read for a bedtime story novel. The chapters are short so there are great places to stop along the way. This will keep the reader wanting to follow along with the story to see what is next. The story is filled with wonder, enchantment, fun and courage. It definitely is a book that I would recommend for any kid who is struggling with finding their way. Especially girls, since the hero is actually a heroine. I could see 10-year-old me tearing through this book and reading it in a few days. Then being mad that there wasn’t any more to read.  Look for Dear Bob The Misadventure of Petunia Pottersfield on Amazon. You can grab it for your Kindle, or auto download which would be a great road trip book. Congrats TP Keane and we look forward to reading more of your great work.
